MICHELE MASON Michele Mason is assistant professor in the Department of Asian and East European Languages and Cultures at the University of Maryland, College Park. She earned an M.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles (1995) and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine (2005). Her training in Modern Japanese Literature has been informed by a cultural studies approach, with an abiding concern for historical understanding. Her intellectual interests include Colonial Studies, Masculinity and Feminist Studies and nuclear issues. She became active in the nuclear abolition movement in 2005 when she was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University. She has lived in Japan for six years. |
